Introduction

The Receivables Management Industry has been constrained by closed proprietary software systems. The rights of software users have been restricted, the ability to innovate has been diminished, and the costs of doing business, as measured in both time and dollars, has been unnecessarily inflated by closed, proprietary software. The Collection Technology Open Standard (CTOS) was created in 2009 to address these shortcomings. The CTOS is administered by the CTOS Executive Board, a group of users, developers, and other interested parties who have come together to promote open software and to safeguard the rights of users.

To promote open software and to safeguard the rights of users, the CTOS Executive Board developed a set of guidelines and specifications to foster the growth of open collaboration between software vendors and software users. These guidelines will help ensure that the rights of users are respected and that compliant software vendors are rewarded and recognized.

Signatory

To become a CTOS signatory, a vendor and user must adhere to and/or support seven of the10 guidelines. Companies who successfully become signatories may use the CTOS Certification Badge in their product and marketing materials.

CTOS Board Charter

The CTOS is administered by the CTOS Executive Board. Additionally, the CTOS General Board participates in governance of the Collection Technology Open Standard.
